You're confusing GG as an archive and GG as a usenet agent. The former I find acceptable, but I'd never use it for the latter unless I had no choice.
GG may well be a universally available client but that doesn't make it good.
If someone has a *choice* I'd recommend using a dedicated, quality usenet client. If they don't have a choice then that's fine. If they really prefer GG that's fine too although some may find it puzzling.
It used to be that GG would generate awfully bad usenet posts, which may have upset long term usenet users like myself.1 There is no way that anyone can dictate which client a person uses, but you can't stop people recommending something else (which many think superior in a number of ways), especially if the reasons are to the benefit of the majority (although I think GG has cleaned its act up a lot).
