Not sure if anyone is interested in this company.

I'm quite keen on nice food by post, it being fairly difficult to get anything more exciting than M&S chicken in most towns in Britain.

Have tried Natoora now twice (once for myself, and once sent a gift order to my parents), and they seem pretty good, if expensive.

They source mainly from France, with a variety of artesan-type suppliers. They also use a few British suppliers, including Fowey Fish, and the Well-Hung Meat company, which is handy as you can compare the prices with those of the supplier. In the case of the fish it seems about 50% more expensive (somewhat excessive), whereas the meat seems to be about the same price. The obvious advantage over individual suppliers is that you can mix meat, fish, cheese, etc., without being subject to minimum order requirements, and also a proper e-commerce individual suppliers use.

The food is all of high quality: the cheese was perfectly ripe and very good quality. The fish was also nice and fresh, while the herbs seemed fresh.

I bought a couple of jars of haricot beans in goose fat, along with some 'well-hung sausages', which are strong garlicky cooking sausage, some very tasty organic pork. I tossed in a few duck legs, herbs and half a bottle of plonk and made a beautiful cbuttoulet, without having to sod about with dried beans. Also ordered some andouille (absolutely disgusting: smoked tripe-pig bowel salami - but I'm sure a good example of the breed), a leg of lamb, a few varieties of lettuce, etc. All seem pretty good.

As I said, rather expensive, some items more so than others, but they currently have £25 off your first order over £50 (with £5 delivery within inner London, £10 outside of this area), it becomes very good value. Whether I will return at full price, I am not sure, but the product is certainly as described in terms of quality (far better than the overrated overpriced dross that Ocado sell).

The only other company I have experienced as a generalist food supplier is Caledonian Connoiseur: www.caleyco.com, which does a mixture of fairly priced Scottish meat, bacon, fish, etc. I was pleased with their quality as well, although it's much less diverse than Natoora, although cheaper in price.

Can anybody else comment on internet-based food suppliers they have tried?
