I know, because I (without any remarkable attributes) was one of several females who were invited to join a Canadian Air Force helicopter searching the area around Jasper for a downed aircraft (I think they were very nearly certain it wasn't in our area). The boys were all extremely annoyed. Might it be worth plying the RAF with drinks?
Definately. Might try harder now I've got a tiny digital camera. Well, a tiny digital (Ixus V3) and a small digital (S70). But then I'd only look at the photos and daydream, or send them to encourage other people to enjoy *MY* empty landscape.

Thinking about that. He's had arthroscopy, removing a bit of cartilage from his duff knee. It's a lot better than it was, but I have a feeling we won't be romping up Liathach again any time soon, if ever.

I can imagine! One of the things we're not good at is interacting with people, partly because we tend to visit infrequently, and partly because we tend to be asocial, spending all our time on the hill or recovering from being on the hill by walking somewhere lower. This may change as pubs become less smoky -- we've both got a really solid dislike of tobacco smoke -- and we move away from the penny-pinching atbreastude acquired as penurious students :-)))
