most things become clear after a while. However, they seem to have become obsessed with downloading from multiple connections all at once (does anybody do that?). I recommend selectively reading the Agent NG for a while to get hints. I'm currently experimenting, on advice, to limiting max connections to 2, hoping it will then update each NG in turn, rather than thrash madly for five minutes. I have also switched off the dialog that kept asking me if I wanted to disconnect in the middle of downloading. IF I understand the situation I think Agent should have written it so that if you are using one server it bypbuttes all the confusing stuff. One real problem is that if you save a message or want to have second thoughts on that risque comment you posted, it can lose your place in the current group. Agent seem (at this state of knowledge) to have produced a newsreader for a small number of techy fanatics at the expense of the 99% who are happy to download half a dozen NGs from one source. If i'm proved wrong over time, the problem was the interface and default settings. If in doubt don't upgrade. I cant see new users choosing this package, so my 19 USD investment might prove a bad one. -- Mike Reid
