Some months ago I heard (on radio 4) about a man who had invented a special cream to help his wife's skin problem. It seemed that this cream had been found to deal with MRSA and other infections! Asda is the distribitor and I eventually, managed to get several bottles. The stuff which has now been tailored to MRSA and other bugs is called Skinsure Ultra. I mailed the company and asked what the mode d'emploi would be for my case. A very nice customer service lady mailed me back with advice. I must use the cream on the leg before surgery.

Selling things as medicines is illegal unless they have prove it to work.

After, I can put the cream up to the dressing and once that is off I can put it directly on to the scar. I must put the cream on me wherever anyone might touch me.. ie physio, docs etc.

If the stuff was effective against MRSA they would say so on the web page, they do not, so it has not been proved to work. They would have to do some controlled testing before they put it on the advertising bumpf. So I would not trust it any more than any other bactericidal hand wipe.

Far better to use an alcohol gel, if you can get it. That has been

Not sure if this is available to the public, so *lean hard* on your local friendly chemist, who will have access to supplies from their distributor.

Also make sure that the Doctors and nurses use alcohol gel before they touch you, and make a nuisance of yourself if they do not.

Anything to help, just being practical, but at least you will, I hope, be able to get down and do some floor cleaning...

Remember also that Staphylococcus Aureus and also MRSA (methicillin resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. It are commonly present on the skin of many people, you may already be a carrier.

I have also armed myself with antiseptic wipes and spray with which I shall clean my room and furniture when I arrived. I don't care what they think.. I have had a bloody bloody bloody infection and I intend to do any and everything to minimise the risk

Well that will at least be cheapish, and can do little harm. Remember to clean the places where a cleaner may forget to clean. Under a sink and so on.
