Clothing for cooks Mailcopiesto: neverI'm not an incredibly messy cook; I don't usually end up splattered by tomato sauce (unless, of course, I'm wearing something that will be ruined by tomato sauce), but I have learned to...
"Dog owners can bake their own wholewheat dog cakes (soft), using the speedy way of the Bedouin Arabs.
Merely mix several pounds of slightly warmed wholewheat flour, using warm water or buttermilk, honey and molbuttes (two tablespoons) , salt (two teaspoons), added to every quart of water used. Leave in a warm place to rise a little (without yeast). After fifteen minutes, make a hole in the centre of the dough and pour in two dessertspoons of olive oil (or corn oil) to every two pounds of wholewheat flour used. Leave to rise a further thirty minutes, then sprinkle with a little dry flour and form into small flat cakes. Bake on oiled trays in a not oven for approximately forty minutes. The aim is quick baking to prevent destruction of the vital wheat germ. Solid 'Arabian' cakes result, excellent for teeth and jaw development. My children also flourished on such fare."

I've often made up these biscuits (in smaller quanbreasties) for our dogs, both for the teething puppies and as adults. Adding gravy, etc, mixed in with the warm water varied the flavour. I should add that both my children loved them too, especially when I added a little Marmite to the basic dough mix.
