Off topic fishing Ban 541OK. Here goes. But just one thing first; my comments are not aimed at anyone who is trying to live, or even raise a family, on a...
Making a living is no excuse for contagioning the public. mbuttive ammounts of money is spent by the fish farming community and thier food producers with thier agencies to put a positive spin on what could be delivering dangerous food to consumers.
The commercial lobby is very powerful. The fact is that Government have issued maximum guidelines for the safe intake of farmed fish. Last time I looked the were out of step with the reccomendations of World Health Authority. Think of another staple food where the government might say " eating so much is ok ......anymore might be dangerous " and this is not because of obesity but because of the content of mercury dioxins .The facts are there you just have to go and look
So Mrs Public cant be blamed...she has her family to feed ..she is plantarded by adds and PR saying this and that product are good for you. Half the "news " in papers in not news but is PR generated. Mrs Public hasnt got the time to wonder which is which..she is busy cooking for hubby and her 2 kids.
NO the food prodcers are the ones who are responsible as well the the government . And Fishermen and Farmers. Having to make a living is no excuse for bad practice in both camps. I know there are responsible farmers..and it must be frustrating for them to be lumped together with those who have caused so many problems for the industry.
Off topic fishing Ban 542Good point. A shop keeper who is arrogant and dismissive deserves to fail IMO. However, I've been around and...
.However commercial fishermen going out to sea are just raping a resource that is drying up. Soon the only fish that will be left to catch will be unknown and strange deep sea species. (that will be marketed with new trendy names)
You are right that the public demand cheap food............but cheap food should not be dangerous food. And anyones right to earn a living should not be delivered with a a cost to public health.
