Yes but the first was a bit unworkable :-) Darwin rules OK. Cows are more like humans? I don't know either, but Prof Sarah tells us they do and that's...

Following up to Adrian Tupper

if you count carefully, it was two :-)

Well, yes, that's what I'm thinking, we have rules for cows but not for fish.

I think I was really letting the speaking fish speak for me :-)

you can go all sorts of ways, fish have no memories, fish don't feel pain, who knows but I think we should probably buttume they can suffer?

*want* to cause ouch? Sadistic ones. Feel ouch is acceptable? Need.

I'm saying food supply = need, angler is saying sport = need.

I'm saying we can kill for food with minimum suffering, a veggie would say we cant, I don't have any brilliant argument to defend my position other than salad isn't food, food eats salad. I draw a line in human behaviour at killing-harming in the line of some form of pleasure, its a judgment a fish wouldn't make, its a judgment of humans by humans. A predator has no feeling of pity1 as it eats the young of another species alive (if there's a God he created a f****** awful system) but we think ourselves better and are slightly better. Does that make sense?

Again not what I was really on about .but nevertheless quite right. The sand eels you talk about often caught off the scandanavian coast in poluted...

1 I asked a talking dog.

What's your position on bullfighting? Doesn't seem good to me even though the animal lives and dies with more dignity than some farm animals. An English aficionado would probably say its just an animal while still supporting humane dissolution policies. -- Mike Reid
