Normally we don't leave the ELD once there, but for once we drove out of Wasdale voluntarily and down to Cartmel to try l'enclume. Cartmels quite posh, with a horse racing...

Hi Greg. It arrived this morning and 'first look' straight from the box, shows that the FP68 plus 11 is quite compact and stylish (all white), the components are obviously more lightweight than the K.Chef. I'm glad we opted for this model, rather than the chrome-on-plastic FP68 plus 18, which looks IMO, a bit cheap and naff. Big advantage over the old processor, is the stepless speed control, the quietness of the 900 watt motor and the storeage 'caddy' for the shredding-grinding blades. I would have preferred the liquidiser, nut mill (already got),citrus press and centrifugal juicer (don't need), to have been available as an optional extra - with maybe a saving of £15 pp. If you go to Kev's post and click on the Kenwood site and locate the FP68 plus 11 and "Instuctions", you will see an exploded view, which shows the 'drive shaft'. The metal tip of the drive shaft has a lateral play of about 8mm. Not a problem, as the metal tip secures in a bearing on the lid-canopy. There's now no play, but this lid bearing is plastic, which may cause probs in the future. However, Kenwood are well known for spare parts. I'll test the dough blade out this pm and also see how the base unit will cope with liquidising soups ........ and post back B.D.
