I have a recipe for Advocat which requires 96% alcohol, which is basically ethyl alcohol or ethenol, I think. Does anyone know if this is available in the UK at all? I could probably get away with an exceptionally strong vodka or something else relatively flavourless, but I'd rather just get the simple alcohol. I asked at a small chemist, but they looked at me strangely and I felt like a wine-o.
By chance a friend of mine mentioned that she makes liqueur chocolates with 96% alcohol. I asked how she obtained it. and she brings it back from Italy when she visits there, in her luggage, wrapped up in towels for safety. She also gets friends to bring it back for her. She *thinks* that it may be available in France, so is asking friends to look there.
