Please give us a distinction between living in another country and changing nationality - one that doesn't depend on time. And I'm not talking of formal papers and signed allegiances either.

So.... the taxes you pay are for services which cost people their time and effort, not for those which cost people their lives. Yes. You part of your taxes goes for military services but those have, or should have, a different cause, one of which is that your life is threatened by circumstances which either you did not choose or that you took on because it was in UK's interest for you to do so ie you were working for UK.

There still have to be valid causes for them to take those risks and IMV someone voluntarily taking actions which bring them into danger (forseen or unforseen) and which cannot be construed as "in the UK interest" are not valid causes for risking someone's life, serviceman or not. I don't object to money being spent to get you out, just the life of my son-daughter-neighbour.

Well, they should not although we have had a period up to the last few years where the lack of danger seemed to encourage people into the army to learn skills and form a career without any appreciation of what it could entail.

UK should make available whatever funds are needed to get you out but I don't favour the atbreastude of "I can rely on someone giving his life to get me out" unnecessarily. Why should someone go through the rest of his life without, say, legs just because you don't like UK winters?

Interesting point on NATO. Was not aware of that.

Taking that one step further, does that mean that Israel runs NATO (US seems to act as a satellite of Israel and we seem to have accepted the role of satellite of US)?
