Here speaks the inexpert. Surely Britain is noted for cool weather vegetables and soft fruits and ovine animals? So why try to be a pampas? Of course there's a reason to have dairy, as well. I do miss cheddar. Thing is, it really is one world. What the heck are people in the jungles and high mountains supposed to live on? They can grow coffee, but you really can't live on it. Or bananas, or fish warm water fish and shrimp, but they have to be able to sell it to get penicillin and schools, right? I don't see how you can keep steel mills compebreastive in places where labor costs are high, as one can see in large areas of the US and some areas of Britain, unless you can use technologies which put many out of work anyway. What will happen when the last UKer willing to treat sewage retires or dies? People in advanced countries feel enbreastled to certain kinds of work, and if they are educated then you can hire them. We have made so many jobs unrespectable. So in come the migrants who would rather than starve. We have done it to ourselves. One can hardly earn £5 an hour and buy a home in London, but there must be loads of jobs in London that pay that.
