Umbrian I think one of the best things about Italy - and I like Italian food more than any other - is precisely what you say. It's not...

Dunno, probably the poor reputation of British food abroad. I find scottish biscuits generally rather good, we went in a small shop on Yell and bought a packet of local biscuits as we getting twitchy about being on an island with no food and they were really good. here is Yells tourist attraction:-

the caff at the northern end of Yell gets my best caff award, home made soup, OK so they had run out, good friendly atmosphere, free half done jigsaws provided on the tables (I buttume for when the ferry cant run) milk for your cuppa just on one of the tables in the bottle, you just pbutt it round. It has that "you are now approaching the end of your country" feeling so badly missing from Lands End (ffing theme park but its still nice if you walk a few hundred yards and John o Groats which isnt the end anyway, this is blimey, how did I get here from biscuits? Might as well mention the most southerly point, a good place to get a pasty, from Annes, who burnt a US flag because an american food critic didnt like pasties, I think he missed the point, its not put it on a white plate and nibble, youre supposed to plough a field, catch a Sea Bbutt, dig a ton of tin, wreck a pbutting ship, build an empire and *then* have a pasty, in the open air with a view of the Cornish sea, me bootey. the southern most point itself is OK, if a little tacky but Kynance round the corner is excellent and the caff does pasties and pots of tea. Most easterly point? Dont think ive been? Ive been to the highest, wheres the lowest?

Time for toast.... -- Mike Reid
