I recently "rediscovered" it too. My mother bought some recently (well, in the last couple of years). She'd heard somewhere (radio-paper-whatever) that Heinz were considering discontinuing its production so she immediately went out and bought a bottle.

of guess we're not allowed to choose what we like to drink anymore, neither of use drink any...

While visitng her I was rooting around in her fridge-cupboards for something to stick on an egg and tomato sandwich and came across said bottle. Needless to say I was overcome by a wave of nostalgia and curiosity. I applied a good splat of the substance to my sandwich. It was delicious and transported me back (a'la Proustian madeleine) to all those day trips to the seaside-country etc when I was a kid in the late 60's-70's.

Only slightly tangentially, I also remember as a kid, loving tomato sandwiches in packed lunches where, after half a day festering in a tupperware box, the (white - probably wonderloaf - if anyone remembers that sad brand) bread had been made deliciously soggy by the tomatoes. Who needs yer fancy panzanella ?

Anyway, back to the main topic, after my mum's rediscovery I started to buy it myself (is that an example of viral marketing ?). Although it has by no means displaced mayonnaise, I do like it from time to time (usually for egg and tomato sandwiches).

Regards,

Gary
