Following up to Judith Umbria
Not me! Actually fell is apt for Shetland as they are very Norse up there and fell is the old norse for "hill climbed by intrepid walkers". Reid is old norse for red, apparently, or something like that. First tranch of snapperoos:-
The formal restro on North Link ferry was very good. Although some places seems not enough custom for restaurants, Unst only one place to get lunch and was clbuttic deep fried everything. Yell, nothing whatsover. Motel (I jest not) restaurant and pub all closed down. Perhaps the village called "Poverty" was a clue. Sanday, only the Kettletoft hotel doing basic pub grub, mainly for pbutting maintenance men. The Creel on South Ronaldsay and on Sheltland, Buster House were both good, cooking the seafood you can see being farmed in the lochs, although the latter didnt seem to realise vegs of the day (red cabbage etc) for the meat options would not go well with scallops and clams, which they in any case over sauced with an orange and coriander concoction. There will be other places we didnt try on the two mainlands but its a shame when there is only one eatery on an island surrounded by fish and seafood and they dont sell any. -- Mike Reid
