We don't use a lot of peanut butter and when I just went to check which brand, we don't seem to have any. Can you recommend a good brand? No doubt if you enquire of their marketing division you will be told something like "we are now using vegetable oil because our customers prefer it", not that they will have asked many, if any, customers. Unless of course, it's a safety issue with too many customers being allergic to peanut oil. Possibly the real reason could be cost: veg oil cheaper than peanut oil?
It's happening to everything: as I mentioned yesterday Bovril have taken the beef out of Bovril. They claimed all sorts of reasons from mad cow disease to certain customers in the far eastern markets of a certain faith who would not eat beef unless it was halal or something. As a lot of genuine Bovril lovers cried out: "Well make a different bloody Bovril for them! You already make chicken Bovril so why not proper beef Bovril, chicken Bovril and yeast extract Bovril." Deafness prevailed, which seems a common affliction in marketing types.
They should be forced by law to change the name from Bovril which refers to beef and call it Saccharomyces-ril.
