We had a yellow labrador back in the 70's when I was teaching in Leeds. Got him as a pup and nick-named him Tetley. You can tell which proper ale, (as it was then!) that I supped. He was a little beauty and I used to take him into school every day. We both worked and he fretted at home and gnawed everything he could get his little teeth into, like labbies do ;-) The kids adored him and walked him at break and lunchtimes.

The head wasn't a very pleasant individual and we'd crossed swords many times before. He found a way to get back at me, saying the pup was a danger to the children and banned him from school. I had to then keep him in the back of the car. He was very fretful and ate two seats. In the end, for his well being, we found a society who got him a home on a well-run farm. We had had him just a year, but the ruling was that we were never allowed to see him again, or know where he was located. It broke our hearts. I ran a pet sanctuary at school for rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and mice for many more years, which kept many children happy, but I never forgot or forgave the head!! I didn't get another dog until I took early retirement.
