Following up to June Hughes
No. Only Angela "'ello" Hartnell, her pasta was nice. The lamb chops at Benares were nice and he agreed its a scandal chillis are not graded in the supermarkets. best food was Gavaroche, I recommend buying all the courses. The chap who won Materchef was serving, he seems nice.
same I think
I think the football kept men away.
Taste of London 670Well - we went. Very hot. Agreed with you - Gavroche was good but very ordinary (enjoyed the stewed beef and mashed pots). Hartnett's pud was lovely and she served us herself...
We had a hectic day getting there and were probably over tired. Carol was delayed and I had to find a pub, Regents park isnt best place for that. Eventually found one with bad sour beer, then two closed down and another full of knuclke draggers with red crosses on, the next had a garden and nice beer, where I sat quietly with a cat who also wasnt much interested in the football. Carol arrived by cab frazzled by football related problems and we ordered a jug of chickentail from a bar near the entrance without thinking much. Total rip off, £38 (sorry 56 crowns) for some fruit juice. Bad start. Much of the stuff we were not over impressed by, with the exceptions mentioned, i'm not sure I was in the mood for it. My main observation was that girls in London wear loveier clothes than in Shetland and there werent enough places to sit and eat the food, because people didnt bin thier stuff what tables there were seemed slummy. we spent loads of money for not very much, really. The private hospitality tents irritated me. As did people who shared tables without asking or saying anything to us. My head is probably still in freindly Shetland. I would rather have put my puffin photos on the web. Next year, dunno, it will be interested to hear others less jaundiced views. -- Mike Reid Shetland, Yell and Unst
