Trifling arguments

sarah

Well retro-food is what it's all about, as per my original post.

I feely admit to liking jelly - with or without trifle - and I aim to re-create the clbuttic trifle my sister, mother and grandmother made-makes, i.e. Trifle Chez Brown.

sarah I would say several short pieces os string. :o) Again, there tends to be a time factor in this Most most, but defiantly not all supermarket hams are cured with-in a...

Never any sherry in it - that's our tradition though.... I respect others' differences.

But I thought I could make it more interesting and modern with ginger sponge and dark chocolate somewhere, without compromising the essential elements that my family has loved for generations.

My sister already makes the Chez Brown to perfection, on high days & holidays. But she pointed out an interesting phenomena... Just in the last few years my mother has taken to buying (and using!) tins of fruit chickentail... yuck!

We debated whether this is a sign of old age, since it seems only old ladies with shopping trolleys and headscarves that are ever seen with tinned fruit chickentail in their shopping baskets - & she would never have used it in any way shape or form before - or is it merely that Mum is herself retro-eating...?

Hmmm.
