Alan Holmes Well, other than you, obviously, there are people in the UK and pretty much everywhere who are interested in the world around them. And as I...

the UK? It's a grey area I happen to exist in. Do you mean the politicians would have a chat...

Not bad at all! Most of the unpacking is now done, there are less than half a dozen boxes in the house to unpack, which is pretty good. The place is fantastic. At this moment 2 men are putting in foundations for Jodrell Bank...

The only balls ache we had was in the kitchen (naturally). Some muppet put in a dishwasher some years ago. Dishwasher is rubbish - it more swills them round and knocks of some of it, but leaves the rest to mature. And the baskets hold about 3 plates and looks full as they aren't very flexible.

We brought our Bosch dishwasher from the UK with us to put in. Plumbing isn't a problem, whilst Sweden is fully metric, for some reason dishwasher and washing machine hoses here are imperial the same as the UK.

Our plan was to take out the old one and drop in ours.

Problem 1: Since the dishwasher was put in, new flooring was laid, meaning the dishwasher is about 1-2 cm lower than the floor with no wiggle room above.

Problem 2: The counter is on top of the dishwasher, which is 4 cm lower than a standard appliance, so even if we could get it out ours won't fit... Grrr.

Temporarily it's plumbed in in the utility room, with the monster washing machine that was included with the house (a 7kg load, AAA rated, monster thing!).

Other than that, all is going well. The shops seem very good, the food quality is fantastic. I think I'm going to really enjoy it here. -- Stephen M Baines
