I think his jacket is ceramic, mine's Goretex, neither breathable, but mine has pitzips and one set of chest pockets zips open for a through-draught when appropriate. I've seen windproof fleece in gloves, in fact I bought a pair (£30!) to take to Scotland because I get whitefinger, but the seams at the base of the thumb failed on both gloves in the first 2 hours of use. I took them back and complained. Luckily had spare gloves in my pack... no wonder I need a 35l daypack
I'm training myself to do the proper drinking thing. It does make a difference to performance, but it's a pain getting the waterbottle out of a side pocket. besides, the hydration sack makes good use of the ventilation space built into the pack and at 2l it's a lot bigger than my water bottle.
