Clothing for cooks Mailcopiesto: never 79
Oh, good! Seriously? I don't completely succeed, but I try hard. I've got a powerful extractor fitted to the correct height over the cooker, and I use it on...

Greetings from the Colonies!

I am hoping that someone in this newsgroup can identify a certain utensil that turns up in second-hand shops here with some regularity.

This utensil closely resembles a tart pan, but the indentations are rounded instead of being frustrums of cones. The underside looks like a series of very shallow domes.

I'm not an incredibly messy cook; I don't usually end up splattered by tomato sauce (unless, of course...

The indentations are about the same size as those in a tart pan, perhaps a little wider, though I have found one example with much wider indentations.

Brand names I've seen include "Tala" and "Ovenex". Every example I've seen was clearly made in the UK; no native Canadian ones ever.

Having neither fluting nor a shell pattern in the bottom of the indentations, they're not madeleine pans, though they are similar.

I have asked everyone I know, including a number of expats; no one has the faintest clue. I have looked through my cookbooks, esp. the British ones, again without success.

I will be watching the newsgroup for replies, but I would appreciate receiving copies via email. Note that my email address must be de-munged to work.
