I agree. A bit of personal chit-chat and reaction does no harm - makes usent less impersonal. I always try to snip judiciously. A bit more routine snippage in newsgroups would certainly help me. My eyesight suddenly declined substantially recently shortly after I'd got new glbuttes (typical!). Not sure what the future holds but I suspect things ain't going to improve much. I'm reading this on a very large font and still struggling a bit to read clearly even though it's in focus.

Still, it's not all bad news. Mrs C has been harvesting our granja beans. After a very slow start they suddenly came good, probably helped by the mild autumn weather. They're very expensive to buy - about the same by weight as good meat - and nothing else will do for fabada. The price is because they're very delicate and prone to diseases. Once dried thoroughly the beans can be frozen to kill off any parasites. They should be cooked until the skin peels back when they're blown gently. (Hmm... there's an image, ahem.)

I've got some Spanish ham and chorizo in the freezer and some saffron but I'll have to buy some black pudding. Good ingredients simply cooked - nothing better. -- Phil C.
