I can't say I've seen it or the other branches. I will take a look on Tuesday when I'm back at...

Hi all, in particular CongoKid, Matthew and anyone else who frequents the High Holborn area. In High Holborn, in the shop that years ago used to be Dunn's Outfitters, then something else then a card-gift shop, there is a new bread shop-baker's-sandwich bar-cafe. It is called Paul's and has been going strong in France since 1889. It opened in HH a few days ago. I bought lunch there today and took it back to the office. Artichoke heart salad with a bit of French bread and some lovely dressing, strawberry tartlet and large latte. Only slightly dearer than my lunch from Pret a Manger. Lovely. After work (they are open until 8pm, which I think may be a bit of a mistake) I went and bought a chocolatey cake, with a biscuit base and an icing-sugar fleur-de-lis on top, for Bas's birthday which is tomorrow. We had some this evening and whilst it says it serves 6, it will serve more like 8 or 10 because it is so rich. Very yummy. The only other place they have in London at present is an outlet at the Tower.

PS They also sell fougbutte, (which by coincidence I made last week from Bertinet's new book). -- June Hughes
