Following up to sarah
Yes, I've seen her.
More a trouser changing experience.
Only in the sense we decided the alps either required taking seriously or leaving alone. (We left it alone) I remained generally stupid for some time after that :-)
shouldn't you have had stiff boots and crampons, rather than socks? Or do Canadians just take the odd bear or frozen waterfall in their stride, I bet you were wearing one of those lumberjack shirts.
it certainly is. One of the worrying things about hillwalking. I always try and plan hard up, easy down. One of our most dicey days was freak weather on Scafell Pike, it was very cold but no snow. We didnt take crampons. Then it rained and the bloody rain froze on impact, that's not supposed to happen, is it? You couldn't descend any rock or even frozen gravel, had to find grbutt or very lumpy bits, horrible till we got below the freeze, luckily only a short distance. I now carry walking crampons in bottom of sack.
LOL, Sugar plum fairy, anyone?
I would not jump out of an aeroplane for anything! You said you wanted to experience that falling feeling, what about a bungee jump? (I wouldn't BTW). -- Mike Reid
