How many of those now at Pool, Newcastle, or any of the other Prem sides would be there if Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal had offered a better deal? Most will be where they are now because it was the best or only deal they could get. So how comes they are not also mercenaries? Seems only the most expensive players come into this category, those bought by our side become 'one of our lads'.....until they want to go of course. Typical stupid football fan reasoning.
The reason that the way the top clubs progressed the way you suggest, by buying as well as developing talent, was because it is was less costly that way. Isn't it time to drop this hypocrisy and silly attempts to claim that we are somehow cleaner than them by admitting what we all know......the only reason some sides spend less than others is only because they have not got the cash. Nothing else. End of story.
