Everton last week (and cos I provided proof of his unhealthy love perversion - LOL) he's now having to make things up to score points. The full article (pasted below) doesn't even mention Europe!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Full Article from EFC Website; Alan Irvine played in the 1984 League Cup final that kick-started the glorious period of domination by Howard Kendall's side in the 80s.
Two decades on and the Everton buttistant boss believes the same competition could prove influential for the club in the modern era.
The Blues have started the new campaign brightly and remain unbeaten. The arrival of Andy Johnson and the form of a host of other players has provided great cause for optimism.
And whilst the Premiership remains the primary focus for David Moyes, his number two admits the Carling Cup can provide a major boost to the club's long-term ambitions.
Irvine told evertonTV: "The League Cup was the springboard for success at this club in the 80s and I don't see any reason why it can't be a springboard for us now as well.
The Carling Cup is something maybe some teams don't treat with the right respect at the beginning of the competition. But rest buttured by the time you reach the quarter-finals everybody wants to play in it and everybody wants to win."We hope we are going to get to those rounds and we are taking this competition very seriously."
The mileage clocked up by the Blues in ensuring they do their homework on Peterborough backs up that view from Irvine.
He continues: "If you don't prepare properly then there is a greater chance of failing. We have had Peterborough watched probably more than any other team we have played this season.
"We have had the opportunity to do that because the draw was made so long ago. We are well informed about Peterborough and we know this can be a really tricky tie. If we don't do the job properly then we could end up losing.
"It is a mbuttive game for them and it is a situation they can't lose in. If we beat Peterborough, then that is the outcome most people expect. But if they win it is one of the big shocks and a great result for them. There will inevitably be shocks in the competition but we certainly do not want to be one of them."
With a number of players carrying knocks following the weekend draw with Wigan, there are set to be changes to the Everton line-up at London Road. But that does not mean it will be a weakened Everton side.
He adds: "There will be some changes without a doubt. There are a few bumps and bruises from the weekend and we need to find out exactly who is available but I don't expect there to be mbuttive changes of the squad we can select from.
Whichever players come in will be Premiership players, senior players. They will not be a second string, they will be players who are very much in our first-team squad."Peterborough started the season very well but actually had a little dip in form after the draw was made. Maybe that is because they have had one eye on this particular game because it is a mbuttive match for their players, the club and the fans."
