A boxer has and uses a lot more tools than just his two arms in the ring. In fact, there is well known footage of Prince Naseem Hamed as a child of around 11 years old with both his hands locked behind his back dancing around the ring and avoiding all attacks by he older fighter told to hit him. A boxer uses his legs, bends at various angles at the waist, twists his neck away from punches defensively, etc. The analogy is not that far off at all, especially at the top level of soccer, where triangle Pbutting and eventual through Pbutting is more precise and the lost player is thus more exploited.

This can sometimes result in a 0-0 Draw after the Sent Off, such as in the main matches in question, which, when it goes to Penalty Kicks will result in the 11 Men team winning, since their legs are less tired. (England-Argentina World Cup 1998, England-Portugal World Cup 2006).
