Baros is staying. The club have never said that they want to get rid of him and he hasn't actually said that he wants to leave (despite what you read in the press). He is a hard working striker who has many valuable attributes (apart from looking up). If he went it would come back and haunt us but I would love it if he stayed and fought for his place. Kuyt is unproven and looks like he could be a very poor imitation of Kezman and once the 'best fans in the world' get hold of him and break his confidence after a few bad performances then he is the type of player who would cause Rafa some serious migraines.
As for the issue of a CB. if we get a quality player at a fair price then all is well and good otherwise the players we have at the moment will suffice. First choice would be Carra and Hyypia (obviously). With the abundance of left-backs available the likes of Troare could deputise in the middle if needed and also Josemi is an option (don't laugh, I'm serious). Whitbread seems like he could be ready to step up to the mantle too and the staff will have a look at new lad Hobbs to see if he could be ready after a few run outs in the reserves.
In other news, expect someone to post a "Joaquin seen at John Lennon Airport" soon ;o)
