Yes, obviously...but that rule and the probable fine are there to stop him or deter him from so doing. It will probably be found to be that this is not legal because it prevents him from enjoying the same working conditions as the rest of us. The standard wage for all players and the clubs right to hold a players registration were all once 'laws' of the game but they did not stand up to the courts inspection once challenged.
Not sure about this? It all comes back to the legallity of the broken terms of that contract. I am not sure that " i will not approach other clubs" is part of his contract or just a League rule for players. There is a strong possiblilty it is the second as he was fined by the League for breaking their rules, not those of his contract with Arsenal....I think?????? If that is the case he has ,so far, not broken his contract. Even if he has, it always comes back to the legallity of the clause he is charged with breaking. Would, "you have given up the right to discuss your future with anyone else without our prior permission" satnd up? I doubt it.

But Cole is not contracted to the Football league is he? His contract is with Arsenal, but it was the league who fined him for breaking their rules. This is not disimilar to the JC who, last year did not pursue very serious charges of corruption against a trainer and others because Jockey Clubs lawyers told them any penalty brought under their rules would not stand up to a challenge when appealed to the civil courts.
Cole is an idiot, and Arsenal seemed far more concerned with having a pop at Chelsea ( understandable I supose) than handling it with thoughts of the long term outcome. I wonder how many league sides have never made an approach to a player under contract, or how many are doing it right now?
I se there is talk of Chelsea losing 9 points now if this is made into an oficial complaint by Spurs.. The Mirror reports that some league sides are urging Spurs to go to the League. I wonder which teams that would be?.....LOL
New European strip for next season 1429To be honest I think Linekar would have stayed as he'd only been at the club one year and had had a great season, (I think he scored 40 goals), whereas Souness had...
