hmmmm.... kind of inclined to agree we've been poor in finals until shaken up but you can't argue with riise planting chelsea after 48 seconds for attacking intent , albeit we went on to lose. The last final i recall we were pretty much in control all the way was vs the mancs in the carling cup. we didn't play so well yesterday, alonso, carragher, reina, riise and kewell were poor throughout. Even gerrard looked iffy. Maybe 63 games was one too many, dunno, but i too questioned the "benitez on finals" conundrum. however lets remember, lifting the 'effing trophy is THE single most important event that takes place in any final. That's what we did, we can debate forever the who's when what where and ifs...... It's all bunk... anything can and will happen in a one off game, WHU play great attacking football. FWIW I thought we were in for a "shock" defeat, so it seemed, just goes to prove however- NEVER write yourself out until the whistle is blown.
we can save the Rafa debate for another time, lets see how he does next season, two big trophies in two seasons putting out THE top sides along the way is not to be sniffed at. No not a genius, but not far off it ;-)
