Diablos Rojos
TBH and I am no supporter of labour here but their record on the economy no matter how hard you try convince yourself that its due to the previous tory government is very good, we are the only major western economy not to of been effected by a world downturn. The UK has under labour risen up the worlds economy rankings and we aint doing bad. But then I don't give that credit totally to labour as Gordon Brown did the clever thing right at the start of his reign on the purse strings and gave the power to change interest rates to the bank of England where it should be.
As regard taxes the unfortunate situation is this, taxes will continue to rise no mater who is in, and each successive government will raise them as they have no option but to. You can guess who will bear the brunt of these taxes the employed and self employed people. The problems are many and we are forcing our politicians to lie to us. Couple of examples, I live in Bury and we have two major issues in the town regards government spending at the moment one is they want to close some high schools and the other they want to close the maternity ward and merge with several other LA's. The reason they want to do this is because birth rates are down and it makes no economical sense to keep them all open. However on the other side we have the (excuse my French here) F*ckwit socialists who say we must keep these 'vital' services open but have no sense of economic balance. They complain about cutting services then whinge about tax rises. So next time people have sympathy for those government workers going out on strike because they want to keep their pension plan as it is just remember its a plan that's far superior to any non government worker and the government cant afford it so welcome to even higher taxes.
On the other side of the coin we have an ageing population who are claiming their pensions. We have a group of baby boomer's born after the war just ready to put a further drain on the system (I really wouldn't like to be in charge of the country by the time the next general election comes around). Taxes have to rise unless young people get off their butt and vote in numbers or you know those pensioners are going to get what they want. The only way we can stop this happening is to stop our dependency on the state and get ourselves a financial education so that when we do retire we aint dependant on any government or some false promises of pension plan salesmen.
