It defines "normal conversation", and creates the reality about which we converse. That's kinda fundamental. Although, I agree that many people are just happy to just exist inside their own particular bubble.
Nope, I brought "it" up to support, amongst other things, my point that 18-5 is an objectively recognised "fact" in terms of the footballing success of Liverpool FC. It is an objective truth (anchored of course within the context of the competition) about which we all agree. Whereas, subjectively formed opinion regarding any given contributory event to that "result" has no impact in terms of the result's objective capital within the context of that competition.
Good fight? Sorry, I hadn't realised it was a fight, you should have told me! Thought you were just "shadow" boxing.. you seem to be beating yourself up without any help from me ;-)
You're so "in the box" ;-) Try lateral thinking.. we've more than the sense of sight with which to explore our actuality...
Not if "a" truth is contextualised and relatively anchored.
I addressed that point before; If there is no truth, then your argument that there is a truth equally cannot be "true".
"The truth is that there is no truth" -- it's a basic mental exercise, illustrative of constructs from binary opposition.
I don't recall saying that results were "universally" recognised. Neither did I say that they were "all that matter" per se. But merely that they are what matters within the context of defining footballing success, and are the only objectively accepted means by which we choose to qualify what is ultimately "meant" by the events that occur within a game -- the arbiter of conclusion -- (whatever anyone's subjective perceptions and "truths" about the nature of those events).
Depends how you define "matter". And, to whom. And, the context. So on and so forth.
Nope. You are trying negate it. Unsuccessfully I might add ;-)
SEVEN REDS ON WORLD CUP DUTY TODAY:LFC.TVOn what is an important day of World Cup qualifiers up to seven Liverpool players could be in action as their respective countries take another step along the road to Germany...
Again, "Misinterpretation" is merely interpretation which doesn't happen to fit in accordance with your truth. Was my interpretation at odds with your perception of truth? Probably, or you wouldn't be arguing the toss! :-) As for intention, it was to reflect my perception of truth.
Who is lying? Who's the judge? What is this "lying"? Saying something that you perceive to be contrary to your "truth" I suppose. Running counter to your perception of the "rules", as engraved upon the "stone tablet of philosophy rules".. gimme a break, even you can't be that naive ;-)
There is no singular "truth" of the event. Moreover, I have never suggested that there are not many "truths" of perception. However, the only objectively recognised truth is that of outcome, within the context of the competition. Everything else is subjective -- everyone has their own perceived "truth" -- but the outcome is the arbiter of success and is the only "truth" about which we can all, always, agree (again, this is only arbitrary; and is defined within the rules of the game).
Righyo, that's enough. We're going around in circles here, and it's plain that we're not going to agree on the "substantive" issues.
The most substantive issue, of course, is that Liverpool FC is the greatest club on the face of the planet -- and that's THE Universal Truth, the one and only constant in this crazy old world of ours ;-)
Maybe see ya in the LFC NG on Sept 18, when we can compare and contrast our truths about a game in which we beat you Mancs -- but we'll both agree on the result!
The floor is yours to respond as you see fit; you have the last word so make it memorable :)
