See, to some people the erm "paki" is racist. I suppose it really depends on the context for to consider it say deliberate and derogatory, but....... I dunno. It's not a word I use. So telling a joke like the one I quote is completely racist, try telling that joke to a black guy.

not with you on the second part, i think you'll find that was b's post. if you mean the guy who joned the Met,well he must have had experiences with lots and lots of white people but he hasn't turned on them, the point IS that black people never made him racist,as b has pointed out in dealing with his job, but the culture prevalent in the Met did.
Further, my misgivings about the police are based on life long observations and experience. We all know what certain elements of the police are like. FFS Paul Condon spent years trying to address(and often sidestep) institutional racism in the police.

What tickled me about ex Gladiator Ahearne getting jailed was that for a year around the time before he was hauled up and subsequnetly jailed I was playing Saxophone into the back of his head every Friday night in a f***ing resaturant.
