No!.....but it might have done if Pool won and they replaced the 4th place finishers. And wouldn't Bolton, Everton or whoever have a strong case? Scores of this years Prem league games results suddenly becoming meaningless just to qualify a team which was not good enough to get there under the accepted arrangements. Hundreds of hours of wasted football.
FA denies Euro rule change claims 4607Everyone wants to see Pool back in the CL if they beat Milan but nobody can give a rational reason why, because there isn't one, apart from silly claims that they are...
It's understandable thats fans will be pissed off next season if Pool won but could not have another shot. There is no reason they shouldn't win, but also no reason they should be included again by the back door. Everyone wants to see Pool back in the CL if they beat Milan but nobody can give a rational reason why, because there isn't one, apart from silly claims that they are suddenly the best team in Europe although not one of the best 3 or 4 in the Prem?
The fascination of Cup games is the fact that they can be won by teams who are not the best in the field. The fact that this can happen is the reason that all teams have to qualify again, even in the World Cup. Any other way and we could have the ridiculous situation of a team winning the CL, being relegated from their own top league but still replacing a 4th place finisher.
It was only a few weeks ago that Ferguson created the anger of fans from many of the Prem clubs when he suggested that elite sides like Man U , who have proven themselves to be good over the years, should get into the CL without going through the usual qualifying method like all other sides. He was correctly scorned for this stupid idea because it was unfair. Too bloody true.
