AIUI he's also quite welcome to stay another year at Liverpool, albeit with a much reduced role than that was playing a couple of years ago; he still has this option to extend his contract AFAIK. Also, look at Arsenal and Newcastle. Think of these teams and the players that pop into your head; Bergkamp and Shearer will be right near the top. Think of Liverpool and Hamann doesn't sit right at the top. He's a very good player, but he's never been a talisman.
