I always read this, but Morientes and Josemi were mistakes - fair enough, but Pellegrino was on a freebie and was only brought in on a trial basis to see if he can cut it in the Prem. Nunez was thrust upon us by Madrid, we couldn't do too much about it. I remember reading that Benitez was after a different player, can't remember his name, but Madrid wouldn't let him go and we got Nunez instead.
About Morientes and Josemi though, who can blame anyone for giving Fernando Morientes a shot. He was an excellent player before he came to us but he just couldn't adapt to the pace the English game. And Josemi, after he had a bright start, showed he couldn't be trusted not to give fouls away. They were mistakes, bad signings, and because of this they're gone now.
Flippin eck Jane, whoever you are, get a grip!! He's a cracking player who has more than paid back the 8 million that we paid Newcastle for him, and you can't ask for more than that. But, to put it in perspective, he's probably on around 20-30 grand a week which is over a million a year. So I wouldn't worry too much about him.
Good luck to Didi, he'll be a great signing for Bolton or wherever he goes to.
