Who on earth would be a ref these days? Much is down to their interpretation of the rules IN REAL TIME and then they have television going over each decision in slow motion 3 or 4 times before so that the pundits can slam him if he gets a decision or two wrong - not to mention the completely biased supporters who will slam any decision that goes against them whatever the truth of the matter.

I'll support any British team against foreign opposition, so was rooting for Arsenal. I didn't think the ref was all that bad though. He made a very quick judgement to send Lehman off for a clearly sending off offence and had blown the whistle so stuck to it. Perfectly good decision. If he hadn't blown so quickly he might have chosen the other option of a yellow card and allowing the goal to stand, who knows. The second option would have made a better game for the spectators, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Football is just a game and human referees sometimes make mistakes. If people remembered that more, it would make football a sport and not the business it's turned into.
