Liverpool fans fear violence could erupt at the Champions League final in Istanbul after 7,500 tickets were sold to local Turks.

The Turks aim to make a killing unfortunate choice of words on the black market by selling to the highest bidder - fuelling concerns over segregation against AC Milan.

Ali Ozturk, 33, who bought tickets last week for the match on May 25, said: "In the queue everyone was speculating about how much they could make by selling them to fans of both teams.

"The general feeling was Liverpool fans would pay higher prices. I suspect a large majority will end up on the black market."

Liverpool fans fear a repeat of the problems which led to the Heysel disaster almost 20 years ago to the day.

Then poor segregation resulted in the rests of 39 fans before the European Cup final between their team and Italian side Juventus.

Concerns have increased with thousands expected to travel to the 70,000-capacity Ataturk Stadium without a ticket after both clubs sold their 20,000 allocation.

Liverpool's allocation was snapped up within hours of the tickets going on sale.
