Spot on.
Regarding your first paragraph.... "Beckham is still a decent player but I have to wonder why so many, who should know better, were impressed by long balls to the wings when playing against a mobile packed defence? Looks great and shows skill and accuracy, but hardly a killing play. The pbutt commits nobody, simply makes it obvious where the threat is coming from."
Forget last night 3678You are absolutely right of course. It is all a matter of opinion. To be more specific, my remark was intended for...
This is rather harsh. A ball that finds his man and gives him a decent opportunity to get behind a defence *cannot* be described as "hardly killing play". I re-iterate, it's not a fault of Beckham's that SWP found it difficult to get past and deliver a good cross. I do agree that it became rather obvious after a while (around the 20 minute mark), at this point though, the style changed and England found themselves with even less of a threat without it.
Oh and the "who should know better" thing Les. What's that all about? It's only a matter of opinion and I, as one who *apparently* should *know better*, have just as valid an opinion as everyone else - including your good self.
