So who came close to winning the title in 2002 if we didn't? Was there some little team of invisible dwarfs sandwiched there between first and second place that nobody knew about, coz for the life of me I thought second place was as close as you could get to first????

Manchester United finished third last season and third the season before that, on both occasions falling behind Arsenal. Yet you try to tell Ian you've been better than Arsenal recently? So if finishing second for us means not coming close to the title finishing third for you must mean even less close??? ANd considering you've only been in the top two once in the last four seasons and look likely to concede a top five spot this season to the likes of Bolton and Spurs I'd say the trend is heading alarmingly downwards.

I hope that's not too close to the bone Norm but it worries me that a club of your stature could suddenly find themselves slugging it out with Everton, Spurs, Bolton and Man City for fourth place. -- + His Holiness
