Of course it is. Anyone who wants to make claims on truth has to provide evidence and...

Have they? When did you last study all of these datings? how about the coins from Roman-occupied Palestine -- why did a forger go to the trouble of acquiring these and putting them over the Shroud man's eyes? How about the consensus among textile experts that the weave of the linen is in accordance with the weave of all surviving linen from the Middle East produced during the first few centuries of the Christian Era, but not with the weave of linen produced in Europe in the Middle Ages? How about the way the linen was bleached, again as it was done in Palestine around 2 millennia ago, but not as it was done in Europe in the Dark and Middle Ages? How about the Vanillin-Lignin tests, which date the shroud to at least 1300 years old and possibly older? The same tests date the samples presented to the Carbon-14 labs in 1988 to a period between 1260 and 1390 by the way, which, together with other evidence, supports the scientifically accepted view held by the majjority today that these samples were taken from a repaired part of the Shroud and not from the original linen.

That's not their job. It's the job of scientists. So far they have failed to explain how it came to be created. This...

So far it is Le Dieu, Ted, and you who have used the language of emotion and disdain in this debate about the Shroud of Turin. I have merely presented the evidence and if you look back over my posts not once will you find me saying I believe the Shroud is evidential proof of the existence of Christ, of his crucifixion, and of his resurrection. i have indeed hinted at all times that it is reasonable proof, but that would require a reasonable observer.

It is instructive to me how utterly opposed to reason the intelligent, enlightened and free-thinking world becomes when confronted with hard scientific data about the Shroud of Turin.

It is possibly the most intensively studied and heavily documented artefact in history. The findings of numerous scientists, art historians and forensic pathologists are there on the internet for all to see. The fact that the modern age does not want to confront these findings says it all about the modern age and its hypocrisy.

"Yes please we'll have the Enlightenment if you don't mind, but not if it makes us uncomfortable. Then we'll go back to our old ways if it's all the same to you. Thanks." -- + His Holiness Pope Pompous XVIII
