The correct attitude mainly , and every right to be optimistic.
I welcomed Chelsea's arrival as a force because it gave those of us who are able to enjoy foorball, whoever we support, a break from the Arsenal- Man U dominance which was deserved but getting boring year after year.
Someone has to say it. They are a bloody good side. But it is a pity that they have become so dominant as far as interest in the major annual competition is concerned. At any other time, Man U or Pools points total to date would put them in a strong position to win the title.
The continued references to Chelsea's wealth is a red herring and futile. Arsenal and Man U ( who have broken the UK transfer record 5 times over the past few years) have not been slow to spend and neither was Pool in the years when they were a major force. Seems to be a mbutt of absolute hypocracy from opposing fans about spending. " We need to buy" "Who should we get" but at the same time condemning Chelsea? Seems that it is OK to spend - as some of the top European clubs have done for years - but, laughably, not too much. Still waiting to be told what an OK amounti is?

Like it or not, Chelsea have set standards of consistancy never before seen in tne top English division or most others. The buttumption that we can catch up with them seems to overlook the fact that there is no reason to think they will stand still. Forget the nonsense about pedigree. Teams are only as good as they are right now. The only use the clubs history has is in providing gloating value for the straw clutchers when the going is tough, like old men talking about the British Empire. We were once dominant....big deal! So was Frank Tyson.

The main hope of competing with Chelsea is not in their owner losing interest, as this seems unlikely when he is planning a new stadium, but if they lose their manager who is outstanding and almost certainly the best man-manager and tacticaly astute boss there is in the Prem right now.
To pbutt them in their present form would require a side which could produce impossible standards. The only hope is that they will slip back to the rest. Meanwhile, good luck to them. They are a credit to our top division.
