I know a bloke that did, him and a few mates, he can be forgiven, i was trying to console him over it at the airport, it was his sixth European cup final, I doubt there are many games over the last 40 years he has missed, he was there in Rome in 77...... the lot. He was pretty cut up about it and rather sheepish but in fact in missing the 2nd half and returning to the hotel he said he made some new Turkish friends in particular a young family, who seemed very poor but were in fact Liverpool fans and their toddler son had a LFC jersey on he intends to keep in touch with these people. The father of this child said to my mate that his son would remember the night forever and he was proud that they all spent the night together. My mate said he had found a wallet stuffed with Turkish Lira(maybe £100 or so) and rather than keep it he said he has sent it to his new friends in Istanbul, he said it was a special time,obviously, and it kind of made up for bailing out at HT.
