I was sure we were going to be treated to a veritable feast of posts purring and drooling over the new Liverpool. Posts applauding Benitez for picking Baros, for example. Posts congratulating him for playing Riise in his natural position. Posts of relief that the dark days of the long ball are finally over. Self-congratulatory posts about how much noisier the fans are these days. Posts about how much more incisive our attack has been since we ditched the donkey Heskey. Posts about how Gerrard has blossomed under Benitez to become perhaps the finest midfield talent in a generation. Posts about how brave Benitez has been dropping Smicer to the bench where he belongs. Posts about how great Morientes is, and how much better it is to have someone at long last who can score with his head.
