Logic of OwenIt's a strange one. I think everyone knows how he has been thinking. Ideally, he'd like to stay at Real Madrid. Realistically, for whatever reason, he knows he will have...
Emotional stuff, no surprise.
A barcode hereWell, what can i say, it seems our fat scrap yard chairman has put all his eggs in one basket...
I think it is very simple.
Last year Rafa told him to sign under his terms or be sold. New terms did not include any right to play clause. With Cisse arriving, MO realised that under Rafa the game was up and he would no longer be central to the way the team played.
He decided to leave.
The mistake LFC made was believing the consistent misinformation put out by MO for the 12 months which preceded this. If they had had the balls to make him an ultimatum 12 months earlier, then we would have got 17m no problem.
Forward 1 year. Emergence of Defoe and others concern Owen that he might not play in WC2006.
Offers himself to LFC, but rejects permanent move to NUFC (only wants a 1 year loan deal. Lack of belief-commitment?)
NUFC say well if you want to come, we want a permanent transfer. RM agree and accept bid. Smart move on NUFC part
LFC didn't want him at the price he was being offered, or any extra conditions-baggage (e.g. I must be first choice) that might come with him.
NUFC were more desperate and through lack the depth of squad, could accommodate any special requests.
"To allow Owen to sign for another Premiership club is criminal". Well, this is total bollocks. I have yet to see one good reason as to why LFC should have signed MO for 8mil plus big wages.
I am pleased this Owen circus has left town, it might come back to bite us on Boxing Day, even if it does I am convinced the right decision has been made
