The legend of the fans grows and growsLiverpool have good reason to be optimistic about the future. Their supporters certainly seem to think so. Ben'tez has taken time to settle on Merseyside and has, on occasion, borne the wrath...
Dead right. He is a fine player at his best but I have always doubted him as captain of the side. Of course,at his rampant best he will inspire the team, but the good skippers are the ones who still lead even when their own game is rubbish on the day. SG seems to lack this. He seems far too introspective, too tied up in his own performance to do the job well. "This will either be the best or worse day of my life" is negative, and hardly what you want to hear from a TEAM leader.
Also true that the club should not be in the position of "4th or I'm off ... but I might go anyway". It is too easy to blame other clubs for tapping up, but to be tapped up you have to be tappable. He shouldnt be and his agent should know this. Whatever his long term ambitions to get some silver to look at in his retirement are, he should be unapproachable in the middle or start of a season where all the games are so vital. Liverpool had the right to expect this degree of loyalty from a player with his Liverpool background and affections. It is strange that a few foreign players approached at other prem clubs have shown more loyalty.
He should go and go soon before the form he showed Sunday and against Brum and Southampton cuts 10 mil off his value. With a bit of astute buying Liverpool will be better for it.
