Not sure if a decent 2nd half performance (went missing for the first 45) in a EURO knock out cup competition can be related to "world stage" clbutt ? Gerrard is a good player who is entitled to his place, but maybe we will finally hear the last of these claims that he would be world beater if given less defensive responsibility. He has a rampaging style which has always attracted this type of comment, but the fact is that he tends to drift in and out of games at international level. Capable of the occasional spectacular, but so are the rest of them, even Beckham.
Lampard is probably more consistent and more often gets into scoring positions although shooting like a novice. Surprising for many maybe, but he seems to have a better engine for 90 mins than Stevie G judging by his 90 min involvement. Both players maybe need 3 or 4 weeks on a beach somewhere?
Ferdinand was first clbutt, and amazing how quickly Rooney has got back to fitness. He will need this weeks rest, and maybe it will bring out the best in both Lampard and Gerrard as long as that idiot manager does not over train them?
