What exactly is your point? I have supported Liverpool for over ten years. Never been to a game. Never worn a shirt. I live in Australia and try to stay up late to catch live text or video streams, download games or watch them on PPV. That's commitment to a team. I still feel part of it all. If I lived in England, it'd be different.
You trying to say that only true fans come from the home town-city? It's a poo argument cause:
a) Everton have never done anything of merit in recent years to gain "non-local" support (or glory hunters as you put it), but the fact of the matter is - Good teams get good support. World Clbutt teams get worldwide support. Simple, though I can understand why you'd not be absorbing this, your team has never been world clbutt.
season run in fixtures, top 6 placesquite interesting this. manure, for eg, still have Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Boro, (recent bogey team) and bolton to play. chavs- (not to much to get excited about here imo...
b) You are living in the past if you think that team = local area. In order to keep up with the moving times, most teams have had to stretch their scouting to further than their next door neighbours back yards in order to remain competitive. Gone are the days when players play purely for the badge. Sport all around the world has become about contracts and performance. It sucks, but it's life...get over it.
I shouldn't have responded to your post, but it was so f***ing ignorant and one-eyed that I had to open your other eye so you could have a good look at the real world.
