Owen may wear wrong red

TAKING logic and common sense into account, Liverpool's most pressing transfer priority is a centre-back.
Apart from the impeccable Jamie Carragher, there is Sami Hyypia and at a push Djimi Traore, and while Zak Whitbread has plenty of potential, it would be a big gamble to pitch him in now.
However, where Michael Owen is concerned, I would put common sense and logic on hold and buy him back.
In my opinion, he is that good and one goal in every two games for 20 odd goals a season will make up for a centre-back.
Given that his situation at Real Madrid is now clearer, he will be leaving in the next couple of weeks. If he does not, then he faces a season as fifth choice forward at best.
For a player as good as Michael, especially in World Cup year, he cannot do that.
The other aspect that could eventually tip Liverpool's hand is can anyone really see Michael in a Manchester United shirt?
If Liverpool do not act and make the most of their first option, which appears to be the case, then I am sorry to say it but yes I can.
Given Ruud van Nistelrooy seems more concerned with picking fights with team-mates than scoring goals, I think Sir Alex would love to add Michael to his squad.
Owen and Wayne Rooney up front anyone? I should say so - in fact that would be one of the most potent part-nerships in Europe.
I would much rather see Owen and CrouchMorientes-Cisse up front though. And if you're thinking shouldn't Milan Baros be on that list, then no, he shouldn't. He will be gone by the end of the week, and not on loan.
Once again, watch this space - but not for a centre-back.
